We have been approved by the MP and our investigation completed as of Jan. 19, yet we have been sitting back in the PGN Guatemala City since then. What was supposed to take 3 days to write our letter, take to the PGN in Chimaltenango and then to judge...HAS TURNED INTO 2 WEEKS. So, we sit and wait.
The documents were supposed to be couriered out yesterday, but we call this morning and they are still sitting there. So, until tomorrow. It was a holiday monday, they must of had to recover from a day of non-working yesterday and today they are just buying more time.
I am beyond frustration and cannot get a straight answer out of anyone or any reasonable timeline. Mariela's 2nd birthday is just short of a month away - and I cannot imagine if she is not home at this point. I just have to laugh most days, because we have seen two Christmas' go by, and now possibly 2 of her birthdays. I just know that none of these people signing and moving papers even tries to imagine it is their own child. They just do not.
So, maybe news tomorrow, but we are going to have to cancel our plane tickets for this weekend, as it definately is not going to happen. Chin up - we'll keep fighting, and calling, and complaining, and begging...and praying.

I am SO angry for you Telissa. And everyone involved in this mess. It is not fair. You will treasure every second with Mariela once she comes home, this is for sure.
