TGIF!!! I have promised myself to be in a wonderful, giving mood today for all the people who have to deal with me today! So, happy friday!
Good news at Semillas. The children are still there. The one character from the local PGN that was initiating the raids and stirring up trouble in the courts has been removed from his position. The one child at the middle of the controversy, Baby Carmen, has been left in Semillas care by the court. This child was placed there by her mother when she was days old - and now Carmen is 8 months old. The mother has not been mentally stable enough to sign and offer Carmen up for adoption, but Semillas was caring for this child. The mother appeared in court yesterday, asking that Carmen remain being cared for, but could not recall her age or where she was born and many other basic details.
We are thankful that the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala has been in contact with Semillas and are now looking over the situation. The man at the reins of the raids has been removed and the courts are leaving the children alone at the moment. There is still more work to do and courts to review the situation, but some positive news for our families.
The papers in Guatemala and even here in the states are still rampid with reports of 15 annulled adoptions, 80 attorneys who are under investigation, and children being left in the streets and garabage - one might think there is no where to leave them with all the children's homes and foster homes being full or the other version is baby snatchers are afraid they will be caught. Still much uncertainty, but faith will bring us through :) Much love to all our family and friends that have helped us (again) write our congressmen and bring them into the arena of what is going on.

This is wonderful news. I have been praying for Semillas de Amor and have several friends following the situation there as well. So they got rid of that Rigoberto Duarante??? (or whatever the heck his name was) SOunds like he wasn't much more mentally stable than Carmen's birthmother. :-)
I'm glad that Mariela is still in the care of the hogar. That must be so releaving for you guys. Who knows what we can believe down there anymore. Let's hope PGN gets a move on!
